What weirdness ? The plot is as simple as peanuts and at no pint gets complicated. Sunshine doesn't try to be deeper than an average disaster movie, it doesn't need to try because it was never intended to be an action flick. This film was all about people, interaction between people, change under stress, pressure, and extreme situations, basic instincts, the human nature. The characters don't have to be "good" to be likeable, having said that the acting was quite impressive from everyone. Oh and they do show the Earth frozen more than once. Weirdness ? Spoliers Ahead!!!

If you were stuck alone in a spaceship next to the sun for 7 years you would start talking about things too. As for "bend space time aroun", um ok what is "space time" and what exactly are you talking about ? He does not have super human strength, he’s merely adapted to more sun exposure.
