There is something to be said about the long format music video. A new trend in movies where there isn't actually much to it, it just looks damn good, and has great music. Tokyo Drift, is one of these movies. Well I, at least like to wish it was. Then we can skip all that deep plot lines and consider it on par with something like Moonwalker. So I am going to do that. I enjoyed it much more if I think about it that way.
Tokyo Drift, is pretty much as you expect. A movie with no one from the first 2 movies, about car drifting in Tokyo. It is flahsy, fast, cool, and horrible. Acting, plot and quality are all big failures here, but sexy girls, sexy cars, sexy drifting, and sexy music make this one sexy video. This could be the next thing MTV does, long format videos.
It is overacted drivel with fast cars thrown in, but that is what you and I expected. I almost got what I was wanting to get out of it, but it actually was a little too lame on story. I expected a bad plot, but it was worse than my expectations. I wasn't watching it for the plot, but at least the first in the series seemed plausible. This one just seemed like they geared it toward 13 year olds and weren't even trying to make anything that resembled a real situation. So I am just going to close my ears when there is talking and watch the pretty cars zoom by. I can't recommend this for anyone, even from the point of view of music video. Skip it.
