Burn After Reading

Burn After Reading Poster

Rated: R

Running Time: 96 Minutes

Year: 2008

Nudity: None

One Sentence: Not the best ever, but still pretty great.

Such expectation for this one.  People are glowing after No Country For Old Men and everyone is hopeing and wondering if the Coen Brothers can pull off two amazing movies in a row.  With the cast that is lined up for this one, I think everyone is really thinking it might happen.  I was hopeful of anything close to Fargo and thought the trailer really made it look great.  The movie came out as quite funny, and dark, but not the level of Fargo in my opinon.

The first thing that I have to say about this movie is that if you are a Coen Brothers fan, then I think you will enjoy this movie quite a bit.  It has all the elements that I think most of thier fans are looking for and it is a quality movie worth checking out.  The movie is funny, smart, and has a large cast of characters that are creative and fun, however I do have to say not to the level of Fargo or The Big Lebowski. Which is what I was expecting from the trailer.

The movie has scenes that are bloody, dark and sad.  There are others where it is funny, silly or unbelievable.  So be careful with what you are looking for, there are some very dark scenes.  I thought John Malkovich was the best in the movie, but the cast all did well, delivering on their strengths as actors.  I think the casting was perfect and everyone did their best to deliver a solidly funny movie.  The Coen Brothers I think did a great job with Burn After Reading and everyone would have a great time checking this out this weekend.
