One Sentence: You are supposed to care about the bag monsters.
This movie called "9" is being released on 09-09-09, isn't that clever. This is a PG-13 animated movie about some new characters that are made out of bags, and are supposedly things we are supposed to like and care about. They are ugly, not very interesting, and in no way make you want them to win over the dangers that lurk in the world after humans. The whole thing lingers in a world that humans probably won't care about. At least I didn't, and I didn't care what happened to the bag monsters living in this dead world after humans.
The whole movie seems like the failed attempt at humans to live on after our inevitable murder of ourselves and this planet, and the whole time I am thinking to myself, can't we just let the planet go for god's sake. Do we really need to make bag monsters in our image and continue the perpetual destruction of this planet, can't we just let it heal and go on without us. After seeing this movie I feel that the world would have been a lot better off if the bag monsters never existed.
The movie is visually amazing. Great animation makes this movie at least watchable, but in no way is it good in my opinion. It just seems like the movie goes a little too far in the belief of the human spirit, and doesn't deliver a valid reason why it should go on. Also this movie is PG-13 for a reason, it is scary, violent, and not for little kids, so don't take them and expect them not to be scared. All in all I would say you can skip this movie completely, you or your kids don't need to see this one.
