One Sentence: I would never go do that cave shit.
I am pretty much a pussy. I don't like to jump off of things, I don't like to get hurt, I don't really like heights, and I sure as fuck do not like the idea of going into a rock hole, that is completely pitch black to cram myself through to see what is down there. I have gone into caves, and they are cool. But they were also controlled by other people and have lights and hand rails and all that. None of the areas could I become permanently stuck in and starve to death, that just is not my idea of fun. So, you have that format that people automatically are scared of, the dark, tight, closed spaces…and of course, some sort of monster creature. I blame Tim League, for writing that this was the scariest movie he has seen in a long while. I am not going to agree with that statement. It was kind of a let down, because it didn't exploit what I thought would have been smart fear based filming and instead went with monsters. You are in a cave, a dark, tiny, uncharted cave, that shit was scary enough as it was. But then you let in a humanoid race that behaves like the Alien race from the Alien movies, which as I have stated would not be able to sustain itself, or we do not see that type of behavior in nature. An outwardly attacking creature that does so for purposes other than eating or defense. The only species that does that is those with cognitive thought. These creatures did not show cognitive thought. However were outwardly attacking and that just doesn't work for me. The movie was scary, was well put together, and probably be a very good watch for most people. It was for me, I did have a good time watching it. Thought it was overall good, but I just thought it was going to be something else, and was kind of let down by the monster aspect of it. I was just looking for a more real scare, as that seems to do quite well. I think it's rentable for sure, and maybe even go see it in the theater. I had a good time with it, just not an amazing time.
