One Sentence: He might be a good shepherd, but a terrible movie character.
Spy movies are good right? I think the tag line for this movie during advertising was, "this is the best spy movie ever made," or something to that effect. I could not agree less. A poorly executed, long, boring, hard to hear mucked up train wreck of a movie could of done well to have never been made.
Everything about this movie was bad. Let's start off with not being able to hear the movie. There was a lot of whispering, and side conversations, you know spy stuff. The audio mixer decided I guess to gain the effect of it being secret, he would have us not be able to hear these scenes. This is helpful, especially when crucial plot lines are laid out during these scenes. I had to turn on the subtitles, because it was so horrible. When you can't hear a plot, and what you can is dry, boring, and doesn't seem to lead anywhere, it is hard to make it through almost 3 hours of movie.
So we have a silent, 3 hour long, attempted to be twisty tale that fails at being twisty, smart or interesting. What else could go wrong. Well Matt Damon, was the main character and the story takes place over 25 years. He is in college through his mid 40's. In all scenes he looked the same, about 12 years old. I could not even tell he was supposed to have aged. He had a son who looked older than him. It was very distracting. Also the characters were all emotionless, lifeless figures delivering their lines with no emotion, power, or purpose. I just didn't get anything about this movie. Don't even rent it.
