One Sentence: A long Simpsons episode with better color.

The Simpsons have been around for a long time.  I remember them on the Tracey Ullman show, when I used to watch that. A lot has changed since then.  Some things haven't changed so much however.  The cast is bigger, but the idea still seems like it might be there.  A look at the life of the American Nuclear Family.  20 Years later The Simpsons Movie was finally released, 10 years after Fox registered simpsonsmovie.com Did they wait too long, or was it a perfect time to strike?

I am not a die hard Simpsons fan.  I have stopped watching the show, unless it happens to be on and I catch it.   However I always liked it, always thought it was funny, and never one to stand up and say the show has gotten weak.  I just don't watch it so much anymore, I do not think the quality has gone down.  So I was excited about the movie but not crazy excited.

We headed to The Alamo Drafthouse to watch the movie, I ordered the Krusty Burger Meal, 2 beef patties, fries and a buzz cola.  Libertie got Lisa's Gazpacho.  We ordered pink sprinkle doughnuts for desert.  We were set for the full Simpson's experience.

The movie seemed to me, exactly what it should have been.  A slightly bigger, prettier, greater conflict, extension of the show.  It was funny, pretty to look at, and big.  It did exactly what I expected.  Nothing that made me upset, nothing that I felt was forced or pushed to be cheesy.  It all worked for me.  I had fun, and would say everyone that likes the Simpsons would like the movie.  It's not required to see in the theater.  It pretty much is a longer, prettier episode of the show.  So I would add it to your rental queue and check it out at home when it comes out.
