One Sentence: One of the best anti-war movies I have seen in a long time.
So I got a sneak for Stop-Loss an MTV movie that has been plastered all over the TV. I have seen tons of ads for it, and sadly I had zero interest in seeing it. It just didn't look that interesting, didn't look anti war and had beautiful men being all polished and when you put MTV on a movie you are going to be wary. I just want to say I am glad I got the sneak and am glad to be recommending it to all of you. The movie is excellent.
The movie opens in Iraq, the scene is tense, powerful and is shot very well. I was completly glued to the screen. It was scary and filled with the right type of action. It seemed real, and really truthfully scared the crap out of me. I could never deal with this type of situation and I think this scene was the perfect opening scene for this movie and it's message.
The movie is not specifically anti-war but is anti-stop-loss to the core. That we are screwing these men who are fighting over there by making them do more than their 1 tour. What are we doing it for? Why are we even over there and why are we making them go back. The movie is powerful, asks solid questions, portrays things in a way that I felt was real, yet one sided, and is really worth watching. I was pleasantly surprised, and is my pick for this weekends movie to watch in the theater. It was just excellent.
