One Sentence: The long awaited movie is finally here.

If you are any type of Star Wars fan, you might have heard about Fanboys, the movie that has been 10 years in the making.  That it got made, delayed, not made, and any other type of rumor you might have heard.  Well the movie is done, and it is coming out, in November, and the fan community could not have been happier.  Some people thought it was never going to make it, including me, and so it came with a shock that not only would I come to see the movie early, but I would also meet the writer Earnie Cline and end up finding out he lives about 5 blocks from me, and is friends with my girlfriend, and that the movie is actually going to happen.

Fanboys is the ultimate fanboy movie, about Star Wars nerds going on a trip across the country to see Episode 1, before it was released in the theaters.  The ultimate dream of many of us, back in that time.  Before Episode 1, anything was possible with this movie, and fanboys captured it, it remined us that George might have been then the coolest man on the planet, and that maybe just maybe we were going to see the coolest movie ever made.  Fanboys is the visual representation of that feeling, and to just see it, felt good and made you remember even if it was just for an hour and a half.

However it is with great regret that I must write, even for a fanboy like myself, Fanboys is not the greatest movie ever made.  Fanboys ends up being a sweet, cute ride across the country with some Star Wars friends who make with the Star Wars jokes, and have a very cool van.  The movie's heart is in the right place, but doesn't have the hyperdrive to knock it into light speed joke territory.  There is nothing wrong with the movie, especially if you are a star wars fan, but it is not going to have a lot for the mainstream and the nerds out there are going to have to know that this movie is more sweet than anything, and doesn't deliever a knock out punch to George Lucas, Star Wars, Star Trek or anything else that maybe we wanted to see.  Which now that I am writing this I don't even know what that would be.

The movie does have some cool fun for the nerds out there, access to Skywalker ranch, the whole sound library is available and there are more cameos in this movie than you can shake a lightsaber at.  Harry Knowles is represented and the general fanboy community I think is served well with this movie.  So while I can't say the mainstream is going to love it and I don't think it's that funny, it is a nice, sweet movie and I think the nerds out there will do well with at least a rental if not taking a trip to the theater to see it, and Kristen Bell is in it, so that's enough to go see it right there.
