Wow what a beginning to Fantastic Fest! I love Kevin Smith, I think that not only are his movies quite good (except Jersey Girl) I think that he is a natural perfect story teller, in person. I have seen his Evening Hard disks, and he just tells amazing natural stories so, when not only was I going to get to see his new movie, but see him in person for a Q&A I knew it was going to be a good night. He didn't fail to deliever on some amazing stories about the movie, but this is about the movie, and Zach and Miri is his funniest movie to date, and might have been the funniest movie I have seen all year.
I am so glad they did not have to cut anything to get a rated "R" rating for this movie, it was perfect as it was. This is an adult comedy that is about porn, love and life, and oddly it works very well. This movie is a non-stop laugh fest, that just keeps on topping itself and everything else that has come out this year. I could not stop laughing. There was not a single part that I thought was lame, forced, slow, or should not have been part of the movie, everything in it just worked so well. I can not say enough good things about this movie.
The casting was amazing, Seth and Elizebeth were both excellent and the whole supporting cast delivered all knock out perfermorances. Especially Jason Mewes, who did not play Jay in this movie. Jay and Silent Bob did not appear at all in the movie, and Jason had to do a new performance. He did an excellent job and the audience even commented on it during the Q&A. If you are a Kevin Smith fan I think you will love this movie and if you are not this is the movie to see. It is great, and again I think is the funniest movie I have seen this year. Go see it as soon as it is in the theaters. It is well worth the cost of admission! Be aware this is an adult movie about porn so if you can't handle a lot of adult situations then it might not be for you, but I thought it was just excellent.
