A rated PG-13 movie with some teens in it about a scary stepmother, being released in the dead of winter. I like many of you are probably thinking this does not look good to you at all. It looks like it has been done before and you probably are not going to go see it. That is what I thought when I saw the preview. Why is it, it is always the movies I think I am not going to like that I think are the good ones. Maybe I am just plesantly surprised.
The Uninvited, is a murder/death/ghost/psychic/family thriller that puts 2 sisters against their dad's new girlfriend who moved in after thier real mother died. It has a lot going on for the short 87 minutes, but never feels rushed, or that you don't know what is going on. I was into the movie right from the beginning, and it really held on to me all the way through. It never felt cheap, or like it forced much on me. There were some horror scenes that I think might of not been needed, but overall it was very good and the movie was short enough as it was.
The teens (not really teens) are cute and not really that annoying, while Elizabeth Banks did a good job portraying the step-mom. I was especially interested in Elizabeth Banks as a scary character, because all I have seen her in is comedy. I liked her in this role, and I really liked everyone. I think this movie was a pleasant surprise. I thought it was way better than it looked and I think a lot of poeple would be plesantly surprised with this movie. Rent it for sure even those that like horror would probably be ok with this movie.
