One Sentence: There is a whole lot more going on here than what you think.
I have nothing nice to say about Nicholas Cage in regards to this movie, but I will not say anything bad either. I have no opinion on the matter of casting Nic for any movie whatsoever. He is cast, he acts in it, and gets through the movie without any major fumbles or anything that would make me question his casting. So don't you worry about Nic, hes as good as he always is. Whatever that means.
So this movie is like a whole lot of things that I don't think anyone expected all wrapped up into one big 2 hour movie parade. They seem to mix together tons of sci-fl plotlines, a touch of scary, and a dash of Jesus for good measure. It made me pay attention to the movie that is for sure. I was caught completly off guard and it made me very interested in what was going on. I think when it ended I felt like I had a good time, even though I was tricked into it by too much random information being thrown at me at once that might have made a plot. I am not sure if the movie was good or bad.
I personally liked it a lot, but I can see where a ton of people are going to hate this one. It felt a lot to me like the movie "Contact" with Jodie Foster. Which seemed to have that same feeling of I liked it, but I think a lot of other people are not going to like it. So with all the other stuff coming out this weekend, I think Knowing is going to be low on my list of things I would pick to see this weekend. However I would rent it if I was into some crazy stories with a sci-fi touch to them.
