One Sentence: So much fun for such a small story.
No explosions, hardly any conflict, no sex, no fights, only 2 womens stories and a whole lot of butter. It seems like a horrible combination and at over 2 hours long it just sounds like something that I would not even be interested in, let alone tell you all to add to your queues, but I am. Add it to your queue. Julie and Julia is a wonderfully addicting simple story, that made me pay attention to every word spoken and every dish cooked. It was a perfectly crafted life story movie that I could not get enough of.
Even at over 2 hours it hardly felt long, Amy Adams and Meryl Streep made the movie work completly. It was just a fly on the wall day to day life story of these 2 women who's lives were connected, and I just kept on being interested. Perhaps it was the underdog feel, or just a good story being told by good acting and direction, but I have nothing bad to say about this movie. So it comes highly reccomended.
This movie is a renter though, and that is purely because thee is nothing in this movie that should make you and your date pay $17.50 to see it like I had to. (Not screened for me) It is fun, funny, and cute, but does not warrant a big screen outing, unless you are dying to go to the movies and don't want to see G.I. Joe. It is up to you, but I think you would do fine with it at home on the couch.
