One Sentence: Not the movie I thought it was going to be.
I don't think anyone is knowing what to expect when they sit down for District 9, except for the fact that there is a big space ship in it. This is how I felt going into the movie and I am extremly happy about that. The previews made me want to see it without telling me anything about it, which is what I try to do here when I write reviews with no plot details in them. I want to be surprised and I want you to be surprised as well. I think District 9 will surprise you all, and in a good way.
No known actors, documentary style movie about things from outter space, that is all you are going to get out of me. The movie was solid, amazingly well shot and was an edge of your seat style ride without shaking the camera too much. They did the shaky camera thing without it being so shaky that you could not see anything. Any other movie maker out there take note, this is how you shoot this type of movie. I was in the front row as well and still felt I could see everything fine.
The movie is good, and worth checking out, it has a great story, very amazing CG and does sci-fi in a way that is well done and not done by too many movies these days. I think you could go see Dictrict 9 in the theater and be happy with it for sure. I think this is a theater movie for sure and not a renter unless you have the home theater to back it up.
