One Sentence: This is not the movie you are hoping for.
Every time Mike Judge is in the news the masses look up from their cubicles for another anthem of their pain. The next movie that shows the utter stupidity of their life in a way that makes them say, someone understands me. There was great hope with Idiocracy however almost no one saw that movie. Many that do cling to it as a movie just as perfect or wonderful as Office Space. Now comes Extract another movie about the working class in America, maybe.
That is what they would like you to think it is about. Workers in a factory, and there happens to be a factory and people who own a factory that makes different types of extract. However the movie isn't really about the working life in that factory, and overall is not really about any of that. It comes out as a slightly funny life movie that happens to have scenes in a factory, that are sometimes funny. In no way does this movie speak to the working class in any way like Office Space might have. I would not say this is a bad movie, but any movie that doesn't hit a home run from an expectant director is always a let down.
Extract is actually a funny movie, but in no way is it going to be the next movie that everyone is going to remember for the next 10 years and reminisce about over late night coffee. I would say you can even rent this movie as it is only a so-so comedy. It is not the funniest movie of the year, or even close and there is nothing else in it that makes it a must see movie. Check it out when you can.
