One Sentence: Why are sports movies always good?
As I wrote the sentence above I can't think of very many sports movies I didn't like. Well there are the sequels of Major League that might not be too good, but let's say it seems like overall, sports movies end up being pretty good. The Blind Side is another great movie, however it's not as much of a sports movie as you might think, even though it still delivers the satisfaction that seems to come from all those good sports movies.
The Blind Side ends up being more of a feel-good or family movie that doesn't seem to lay on a thick horrible layer of cheese. Yes there are some sappy parts, but it is meshed in with a good story, and great acting, so those sappy parts don't feel forced but feel like a natural inclusion of the story, and are not put there to make you feel a fabricated emotion. I think that is why I liked this movie so much, it felt genuine.
It tells a good story, that is based on a true story and feels like a nice step back from all the other movies that are trying to hard to make you pay attention to them. The Blind Side just tells it's story, and doesn't make a big to-do about it, and that is what makes it great. Its a good movie, but I would say it's a renter, because it has nothing in it that you should spend the movie ticket money on. So add it to your queue, and check it out when it comes out on DVD.
