So going into this movie all I could think about was Bella Swan and her two topless boys staring at each other while nothing happens for 2 hours. I figured Beastly was going to be more of the same, but it is with great pleasure to say that is not quite the case. Beastly is a tween PG-13 romance movie with only the tiniest amount of depth about love possible, but it does it in at least a watchable way.
This movie is perfect for all your teenagers. It has some cool style, an easy to digest story and some cute actors. It works for what it was supposed to be and for someone like me who has to go see it, like some of you parents, you will be happy to know you can at least sit through this movie and not want to rip out your eyes, which is saying a lot. Vanessa Hudgens is very cute and Alex Pettyfer is very horrible. Neil Patrick Harris shows up to play a part that is ok, and Mary-Kate Olson plays the witch and she is just awesome.
I do not think I would recommend this movie to many adults, but I think it is great for the teens out there. I think it's a great weekend movie that tried hard enough to deliver a better movie than what this target audience had previous had to endure. So run to the mall and check it out. Parents that want to see this, wait till it is out on DVD and rent it.
