Playing For Keeps Movie Review

Playing For Keeps Movie Review Poster

One Sentence: I am not sure who this movie is for.

Rated: PG-13

Release Date: 07-Dec-2012

Nudity: None

Ok maybe it is for late 30 something divorcee’s with children?  That is the only group who I think this movie might be for.  I can’t think anyone else would like this movie very much.  I don’t know if that is a big enough demo to go after.  If that is the demo you want, how are they going to get to the theater, are they going to bring their 8 year old.  Thanks.

The more I think about this movie the more I don’t like it.  It was barely funny.  Barely.  Julia Benz had a tiny role, and she was just about the only funny thing in the movie.  I would not even consider it a romantic comedy.  It was more like a sad story about a guy with a love story attached to it.  It is marketed to women but I don’t know if they would even go for this one.

Jessica Biel plays the love interest/mom and she is fine I guess.  I am completely forgetting her already and the movie entirely.  It wasn’t sweet, or cute, or funny.  It was just there, wearing me down, while I was wondering how this movie was still happening.  Then the ending happened and I was done with the movie.   It just was awful.

So I think you figured out that I do not think you should go see this movie this weekend or ever.  I think this movie might get pushed out to lifetime quickly as I don’t see anyone else picking it up for any reason.  So skip it.  You will never ever notice you never saw it.
