Red 2 Movie Review

One Sentence: Just as good as the first.

Rated: PG-13

Nudity: None

After Credits Scene: No

Red was such a great idea.  Amazing actors that are getting up there in age, putting them in crazy scenarios and as crazy characters and let them go at it.  Red was one of my favorite movies of that year, and if you have not seen it I can’t recommend it enough.  It was an unexpected hit and a sequel was born.  Still a great cast and they added Catherine Zeta-Jones and Anthony Hopkins.

I might like Red 2 more than the original.  It might be because there was more Mary Louise-Parker in it and I love her, but it might be because it is at least just as good as the first, and probably a little bit better.  The same pacing and comedy, as the first with a bigger plot, more locations, and Anthony Hopkins.  It seemed like he loved this part and was amazing.  The rest of the cast was just as good. They are so solid together I could keep watching Red’s if they kept making them.

In this horrible year for movies so far, Red 2 is a tiny movie, that shines brightly.  I don’t know if it is the best movie of the year so far for me, but it sure does feel like it.  Lets at least say that it is the best non-animated movie of the year so far.  I don’t think it will be my favorite by the end of the year, but at least for this summer, this was the most fun I have had at the movies.
