One Sentence: Even Aardman is using computers now.

Aardman studios has been behind many many films and cartoons that we have seen.  All done with claymation.  Movies like Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit curse of the Wererabbit.  After large success with the last 2 US movies, Dreamworks wanted more.  Flushed away is that movie.  However this time they were not going to use their usual claymation for the movie and do a 100% CG movie.  The reason is there is so much water in the movie is it hard to get it to look good using clay.  I think it is just an excuse.  The clay work was such a wonderful and iconic look, that looking at Flushed Away, even though they use the same design for the character model it just isn't the same.  It lost a little bit of magic I think.

The movie however is funny, cute, and has a great story that Aardman is so good at creating.   There is no lack of funny scenes and characters.  This movie I think more so than any of the previous films, has some of the best characters.  French frogs and singing slugs along with the sewer rats make there plenty of material for the writers to have their way with so many exploitable stereotypes that were just fun.

The characters were read by a very large cast, including Hugh Jackman, Jean Reno, Kate Winslet, Ian McKellen, and Bill Nighy along with many others.  It seemed to all work very well, lots of money, a good story, good actors and smart humor.  I just wish they had gone with the clay animation instead of the CGI.  We are going to be so saturated with CGI, that anything that is outside of that will just look great I think.  Maybe I am just being old.  GET OFF MY LAWN!  Rent it for the kids, and watch it yourself, it's good.
