One Sentence:  Best rated movie of the year?

I personally do not care for film critics, movie critics, overall the critic world.  Let's ignore the totally ironic fact, that I myself attempt to be a movie critic, and just focus on the fact that I don't care for them.  They are usually long winded and think movies, that I think are crap, are the best movies of the year.  Even in this movie Ratatouille, the character played wonderfully by Peter O'Toole, a Food Critic, declares that his job is easy, and that he doesn't really matter much in the grand scheme of things.  So it is again I must stand and declare my disagreement with the world of critics, because they state, according to 125 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, that this is, for a wide release film, the best movie of the year.

I have no issues saying that a Pixar film would be the best movie of the year.  I think I gave Cars #2 last year, so I think it is possible and could be given to any movie, including an animated movie.  I just didn't think the movie was amazing.  There is nothing wrong with it at all, I think the most average Pixar movie is better than 90% of the movies out there, and that this movie is quite good.  It was just missing that magical moment, where I was welled up with emotion, and felt empowered by the message, the characters, and the story that I was just given, in a perfect little package, that makes me think I want to see this again tomorrow and buy it the day it comes out on DVD.

Now don't get me wrong, I think everyone should go see this movie, probably in the theater even, it is funny, cute, smart, and everything we come to expect and love about Pixar animation.  It has a great story, amazing animation, and terrific voice acting.  I think Peter O'Toole was perfection on screen.  So don't pay any attention to me ranting above about the best movie of the year, because according to everyone else it is.  So go see it, because even if I am not giving it 5 stars, I am giving it a 4 and that is still pretty darn good.

4 stars
