Jeremy Irons, and John Malkovich were in this movie. They are two odd characters. Some would consider them the pinnacle of male acting talent of the stage and screen. Yet sometimes, they decide to do movies, that many consider, less than. I do not care what you do as an actor, and I feel that if you do a movie that some might consider less than worthy of your talent, then more power to you. You get points in The Reviewer's book. Right after the page of hot Hollywood girls I would like to sleep with.
Is the movie less than the worth of Jeremy Irons? I don't know, he was in it. He did quite well too. The movie itself was not the steaming pile that most people seemed to think it was. At least it wasn't for me, and if you put it next to say Dragonheart, or Dungeons and Dragons, then well this movie was miles ahead. I think it could actually get better if they make the second and third parts, which might not happen due to it's poor showing at the box office.
I did not like the main character, Eragon, he was a bit too much of a Nancy boy, even after he became the dragon rider. Not enough King Aurthur, and too much Sir Robin, if you know what I mean. The dragon CG was up to par and didn't feel bulky, poorly rendered or goofy looking. I pretty much am lost on what everyone hated so much about this movie. Maybe it wasn't the ultimate Dragon epic, but it was not the worst movie of the year by far. I think it's rentable for some.
