Rango is as confusing a movie as it looks.  The things that run through your head like Johnny Depp is attached to it and he doesn't do bad movies but it looks so weird that you really don't know if you want to see it.  I understand I was right there with you, till I saw it.  Now I know, you don't want to see Rango, unless you are obsessed with animation, because that was the best thing about this movie, amazing animation.

Let's talk about that first, during some parts of Rango I was not sure if it was real or fake, as in did they shoot it with real cameras and then put animation on top of it, or if it was actually animated.  It really seemed like they did things in this movie no one has done with animation before, especially with water.  It was the best looking animated movie I have ever seen.  Sadly that was the only good thing in this movie.  I almost fell asleep it was so boring and I am not sure if it was just an unfunny comedy, or if they intended for it not to be funny, because it wasn't.  So without the comedy it was so dry and drug on, I felt like I was falling asleep at one point.  The characters could not deliver a depth of emotion due to being animated animals, so the conflict and plot just felt like it sat on you without some relief through comedy, and without powerful performances to make it feel like it was important.  It just sat there in the way for most of the movie while Rango didn't do much.

If the animation of this movie wasn't amazing I would of given this 1 star easily, I am going to give to 2 stars for doing some new things with animation, but almost everyone can skip this movie.  I don't think kids will really like it, and unless you want to see the newest and best animation with water, I don't think any adult will like it either.  You can skip this movie completely, it isn't even worth the rental.

2 Stars
