Kung Fu Panda 1 was a shock to me. It was so good. The animation was amazing, the story was awesome, and the characters were loveable and wonderful. I loved it, so I was really excited about Kung Fu Panda 2. As with these huge animation companies, it seems like they can just keep making good movies. Even sequels. Well it seems like they can, until they make one that isn’t as good as everything else.

Kung Fu Panda 2 is that movie. It isn’t bad at all, but compared to all the other Dreamworks stuff you compare it to, including Kung Fu Panda 1. The sequel, is just that, another sequel. The Villain is amazing. Voiced by Gary Oldman, he is really a wonderful character. The story involving him is very good and I wish there was more of it. The story involving Po (The Panda) and his search for inner peace was a lot more lacking. It didn’t deliver that blend of fun, story depth, message and comedy that KFP1 delivered. I just was left wanting more. The fighting was very good however, and the movie still is funny and cute, it is just less than everything else Dreamworks has been putting out lately.

I wouldn’t say don’t go see this movie. I think you can skip it in 3-D. I don’t think it delivers an amazing 3-D experience. If you have kids or liked KFP1, I am sure you will like it, but I am not sure if you will love it, want to buy it on Blu-Ray, and get yourself a new Po action figure with new stances. It just doesn’t go all the way to awesome.
