Well it didn't break any records set by Spider-Man 3, but it still did pretty well with 121 million dollars for the weekend. I think everyone involved should be happy with that. The list that is involved is quite huge as well. We will get to all of them in a minute. Shrek 2 was genius. The further integration of modern times, and fairy tales was executed so well and was so clever that it was going to be hard to top and I think we all knew this. It seemed like they understood that, didn't try to top themselves in that aspect of the movie and just went for a part 3. Maybe spent a little less money and made something that they wouldn't be upset about and that kids and parents would be happy with.
Shrek 3 is as everyone has said, the worst of the 3 movies, however it is not a bad movie. I personally enjoyed it quite a bit, I laughed out loud, and actually wished it was maybe about 10-15 minutes longer to flesh out some more jokes, and side story with the princesses, who were awesome. It isn't going to top part 2. However I wasn't expecting that. It was just too good to top. So instead it seems like they went and got an amazing cast and worked on some new awesome characters, and fleshed out the ones that have been on the sidelines till now. The cast was amazing.
Mike Meyers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas, Julie Andrews, John Cleese, Rupert Everett, Eric Idle, Justin Timberlake, Larry King, Ian McShane, Cheri Oteri, Regis Philbin, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Seth Rogen, and Amy Sedaris. Holy crap what a freaking line up. Everyone was awesome, they all made it work out. It was very fun and the princesses all played by improv actors was perfection, I really would like to see a princesses spin off movie. I think it would just be so much fun, with all the girls who played them in this movie. They were the best part of Shrek The Third.
This movie, is totally rentable for everyone that liked the other 2. Just don't expect another awesome part 2. The kids will have fun, you should have fun with it too. If you want to catch it at the box office go this coming memorial day, everyone will be watching Pirates 3 and you should get in no problem.
