One Sentence: Fine family 3-D fun.
3-D can get me pumped for a movie I might not have otherwise seen. I missed Sharkboy and Lavagirl and Spy Kids 3-D both of which I heard were worth watching for their 3-D awesomeness. That will no longer be the case, as I checked out Journey To The Center of oh my god this is a really long title to keep typing everytime I mention the movie or make a link to it, 3-D. Which could have gone either as a hokey kids 3-D movie with no really good 3-D elements, or something worth the whole family watching. Luckily I am going with the latter here, I think that the whole family would have a good time with this family adventure movie.
Clean cut, cute, and made so that you can bring all of the family to the movie, Journey delivers a great 3-D experience that is filled with enough 3-D fun and action/adventure, that even dad and mom should have a good time. I thought the pacing was good, the story was solid, for being about going to the center of the Earth, and that even with it's light subject matter it held my attention. I would not say it broke any 3-D molds, but it was entertaining for it's 3-D elements.
Now I am not saying this movie is amazing, it is not bad. It has what it needs to have for everyone to enjoy it, but it sure does have flaws. It has those general flaws that seem to crop up in these type of movies. It is not very deep, does not have a lot of character development, and does not have anything that makes us feel like we didn't know that was going to happen. However I was not expecting a grand film masterpiece. I was expecting a family 3-D movie and that is what I got. So if you got kids, take them to Journey, it will be a fun time.
