One Sentence: The first live action cartoon.
Those 2 weirdos, The Wachowski Brothers, have done what I think a lot of people have been trying to do for a long long time. They have made a cartoon, that is actually live action. The hybrid that CG cartoons fail at almost all the time and the fun craziness that cartoons have that live action fails at most of the time. There were humans for the emotional factor that lacks in cartoons, where we have a hard time understanding their feelings and it just not delivering on that human level. Then there was the movie around the humans, which was a living cartoon, colors, and things that don't apply to the human world, but make for a fun time.
This movie delivers everything that I wanted and more. It was visually appealing and amazing to look at, it was a world that lived and breathed, and while in the background at all times, was always in the foreground of your thoughts. It was a family movie, that was funny, had a good message, fun scenes, fights, romance, racing, mystery and a live monkey. Some people are saying the acting was bad, but I didn't notice. I guess I didn't care, I was just having too much of a good time watching the movie that I didn't care if the acting was a little bad, because I don't care. The movie is perfect to me.
Speed Racer is my favorite movie of the year now. It beats out Cloverfield, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and everything else I have seen this year, including Iron Man. This movie to me is the future of movie making and I am on board with this type of format and would love to see more of it. Speed Racer is a great movie for the whole family to see and I recommend going to see it this weekend, maybe even twice. I also am on the buy it on DVD boat when it comes out.
Oh and can I say that Christina Ricci as Trixie was super dupa hottt. I thought she looked great, and I just had to mention that here.
